Transportation Infrastructure

Transportation infrastructure represents the arteries of modern civilization. Itasca provides engineering and research services for nearly all aspects of transportation infrastructure, including:

  • Roadways, including soils, aggregates, and geogrids
  • Rail-tie-ballast interaction
  • Causeways
  • Bridge abutments and foundations
  • Rock fall and landslides
  • MSE walls
  • Soil-structure interaction and structural design
  • Tunnel construction (cut-and-cover, conventional tunneling, partially mechanized, and fully mechanized)
  • Underground spaces and caverns
  • Port and harbor infrastructure

Itasca software accounts for construction stages and includes many material models to represent a wide variety of soil and rock for realistic behaviors for both static and dynamic conditions, including liquefaction. Structural elements can be incorporated to simulate the effects of ground support (liners, piles, anchors, rebar, beams, etc.) on infrastructure behavior.
