Our Stories

Kaunis Iron AB has re-started the iron ore mine in Pajala. Itasca has the privilige to be part of the work with future open pit mining.

Kaunis Iron AB is mining iron ore in an open pit. Itasca is currently working to develop a rock mechanical design for the pit slopes. The work include extensive rock mechanical core logging of new boreholes in the deposit, as well as other data collection and interpretation of the rock mechanical conditions. The information is used for slope stability analyses and to develop design criteria for the pit slopes, which can be used for mine planning in both the short- and long-term perspective. We are very pleased to be able to work with Kaunis Iron in this exciting and interesting project!
