The Swedish Nuclear Fuel and Waste Management Company (SKB) is planning to extend the short-lived radioactive waste repository with five 275 meters long and one 240 meter long vault. Since the extension could lead to damage on the existing facility, Itasca designed a temporary support system to prevent loose rock.
This course provides an overview of the Python programming language in Itasca software. The course covers major applications of Python to extend modeling capabilities with the Itasca codes through a number of applied examples.
The conference will feature two main tracks: the scientific track and the industrial track. The presentations will be arranged in general and parallel sessions over two days. There will be short courses and workshops on the day preceding the conference and excursions to sites of interest on the day following the conference.
Mr Lindfors is a rock mechanics engineer with an M.Sc. in Geotechnical Engineering and a Technical Licentiate degree in Engineering. He has practical and theoretical experience from projects in mining (underground and surface) and tunnel design, including field work, analytical, and numerical analysis. He has experiences from rock stress measurements as a project manager, responsible field engineer and with analysis and interpretation of measurements. Ulf also has teaching experience in rock mechanics from the Luleå University Technology.
