Axel Bolin rock mechanics, geohydrology, civil engineering. Mr. Bolin (f.k.a. Möller) has a M.Sc. in civil engineering specializing in soil- and rock Mechanics. Axel has experience in rock mechanics problems involving tunnel sealing techniques. He has also experience in field work, including non-destructive testing of rock bolts (Boltometer testing) and high pressure water injection testing in bore holes.

Ulf Lindfors rock mechanics, mining engineering, civil engineering. Mr. Lindfors is a rock mechanics engineer with a M.Sc. in Geotechnical Engineering and a Technical Licentiate degree in Engineering. He has practical and theoretical experience from projects in mining (underground and surface) and tunnel design, including field work, analytical, and numerical analysis. He has experiences from rock stress measurements as a project manager, responsible field engineer and with analysis and interpretation of measurements. Ulf also has teaching experience in rock mechanics from the Luleĺ University Technology.

Diego Mas Ivars engineering geology. Dr. Mas Ivars is a mining engineer specializing in engineering geology. He has worked in the fields of geophysics, applied rock mechanics and numerical modeling for the mining and civil tunneling industries. He has conducted numerical, laboratory and field research regarding the characterization of the hydro-mechanical behavior of fractured rock masses. Dr. Mas Ivars completed his Ph.D. thesis on the development of SRM technology, a robust methodology based on the DEM numerical modeling technique, for improving the capability to predict the deformability, yield and failure of rock masses.

Abel Sánchez Juncal rock mechanics. Mr. Sánchez Juncal has a Masters in mining engineering with a background in geomechanics. He studied footwall slopes stability analysis using UDEC and currently is working on an International Masters degree on the theoretical and practical application of finite-element method and CAE simulation. Mr. Sánchez Juncal has conducted geotechnical research at the University of Vigo in Spain on open-pit wall slopes stability analyses by limit equilibrium and numerical methods, and with physical model tests. He also has analyzed rock mass responses of large open pit mines in Chile.

Fredrik Perman rock mechanics, mining engineering, civil engineering. Mr. Perman has a M.Sc. in Civil Engineering with a major in Rock Mechanics. He has since 2003 worked with various types of rock mechanical problems. His main focus has been on numerical analysis of underground mining and civil engineering tunneling projects. He has also worked with rock stress measurements, both practically in field, as well as with analysis, evaluation and reporting, and as project manager for measurement campaigns. He has also performed inspections of tunnels and slopes, and geotechnical logging of drill cores.

Jonny Sjöberg rock mechanics, mining engineering, civil engineering. General Manager, ICAB. Dr Sjöberg is a rock mechanics engineer with experience in operations, research and consulting within mining and civil engineering. He holds a Ph.D. in the area of open-pit slope stability, and has worked on underground and surface mining projects, civil engineering tunneling projects, stress measurements, and various other numerical modeling projects. Dr. Sjöberg also is an Adjunct Professor in Rock Mechanics and Rock Engineering at Luleĺ University of Technology.

Erik Storvall rock mechanics. Mr. Storvall has a M.Sc. in civil engineering specializing in soil- and rock mechanics. Erik completed his Master’s thesis focusing on stress- and deformation analysis of rill mining using FLAC3D. He also has experience of discontinuum modeling of access drifts using 3DEC.
